‘Make a coalition already!’ Yewnited States Congress in big disarray

A new high, or is that a new low – McCarthy loses 10 ballots on the trot

Yewkay pollyticks seems to be waking itself after its Krissmus hibernation, all the politicos are a bit like me after I have had a nice afternoon sleep on my favourite chair. They all seems to be wandering around a bit groggily like I do when I need to get down the stairs, get my face into my bowl and get out the door. Things are starting to wake up, but very slowly.

This is not the case in the Yewnited States House of Representatives. The Republycans managed to get enough votes in the mid term elecshuns (the gift that just keeps giving) and I understand that they had enough people to elect themselves a Speaker of the House of Represenatives and get on with the business in hand.

Not so with Trump the Ginny Pig Man’s Republycan party. The few crazy Ginny Pig Man fans who managed to survive the election are now putting up their own candidates against the favoured Republycan candidate Rep McCarthy.

Standoff in the US Congress

Mr McCarthy has now lost 10 votes (seriously…10) and the US Congress has screeched to a halt. If he wants to get the crazy Trumpers on his side, he will have to make consesshuns to them. I would suggest that he looks to Treesa May’s experiences with the DUP when she had to form a ‘trust and confidence’ agreement with them. There was definitely not much trust and Treesa May didn’t have much confidence either. The House of Representatives is in a standoff like I get into the Spunj the cat next door over who gets to sit on the shed in the sun.

So CNN news Humans have come up with the idea of a grand coalition to block the Trumpers. i.e. some demmycrats lending their votes to Mr McCarthy to get him over the finishing line. He would have to rely on keeping the demmycrats happy after that and the demmycrats would have to hold their noses and vote with him. It would be interesting to see if that works out, but I have learned a bit about pollyticks over the past few years and I think that everyone is having way too much fun to actually do something as sensible as this.

Meanwhile, JoeByden and Mitch McConnell the leader of the Minority republycans in the Senutt have been having discussions. Me and the She Human are watching these discussions with great interest.

I don’t think the demmycrats should give in. Let the Republycans fester in their own failings for as long as possible. It is they who are playing hardball by not rejecting McCarthy as a failure, and selecting a better candidate to stand. It seems that the clerk of the house is doing a good job. Maybe both sides should elect her to the role of Speaker. Meanwhile, I wonder if this McCarthy is a related to the former Senator Joseph McCarthy. He was a fun loving chap who loved talking to people about their political views.
